Yes, the Church has always been the the source for humanity for the fullness of God's truth. The writers of the New Testament without exception were Catholic Christians. What about 2 Timothy 3:16. The man was only the instrument or vessel even the tool if you was to simplify it to write it down. But God in the Holy Spirit used those great men to write it.Ericnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212747024604809827.post-36788657070107532572013-10-31T02:06:21.746+08:002013-10-31T02:06:21.746+08:00I list it according to the hierarchy of authority ...I list it according to the hierarchy of authority given and taught by Christ. Christ is the ultimate authority and as a result he gave His authority for teaching to His Church. The Church exercised that authority by writing the New Testament and canonizing the Christian Canon. Why do you continue to list the church before the Bible? It just seems odd?Ericnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212747024604809827.post-3211893922234966532013-10-14T06:19:52.103+08:002013-10-14T06:19:52.103+08:00Without the Church how is the true Gospel to be sp...Without the Church how is the true Gospel to be spread? If the truth is to be known it must be the teaching of the Church as this is the source of truth that Jesus established.

Surely the Church is an identifiable entity with the Pope as its prime minister and apostolic succession as its foundation. If you are speaking of the invisible Church then such a Church is known only to God but the Catholic Church is the visible entity established by Jesus personally that is the shining city on a hill that cannot be hidden. This is what the Bible speaks of when it says that the Church is the "pillar and foundation of the truth". What good is a source of truth if it cannot be known or clearly identified. Otherwise, any entity can claim the truth and instead of a unifying truth there would be confusion and thus division. Jesus prayed that such confusion and division would not occur but that unity in His own Church would be the symbol and the reality of truth in teaching and practice. That is the Catholic Church. So, this "pillar and foundation of the truth does indeed exist in all places and times as the Catholic Church as there can be no other sharing in the veracity of Christ who was not the author of division but of unity. Protestants do indeed try to lay a new foundation founded on the facts that they cannot endure the sound doctrines of the Church but without the veracity of Christ's authority given to His Church they lack the fullness of truth, faith unity and practice that is His desire for all that is His. Their is no devotion in disunity but such is an exercise in disobedience while keeping some elements in truth the fundamental truth of Christianity is that Jesus is God and the 2nd person in the Trinity of one God. Protestants as a result reject the true foundation laid by Christ and instead embrace the man-made counterfeits of the world.. God bless!

In Christ
Fr. JosephFr. Mt. 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it. Jn. 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. We do say that this Church exists but not exclusively in Rome under the Pope. The Church is truly believing and righteous people scattered throughout the whole world. We add the marks: The pure teaching of the Gospel and the Sacraments. This Church is properly the pillar of the truth....for it keeps the pure Gospel as St. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.Joshuanoreply@blogger.com
